The Realtor and Broker Designations:

All Realtors are Real Estate Agents, but not all Real Estate Agents are Realtors! Realtor is an agent that has joined the National Association of Realtors, and adheres to their strict code of ethics.

Broker is a real estate agent with at least 3 years of experience and completes an additional 60 hours of classroom time,
covering topics such as real property law; agency, federal, and state laws; regulations; pricing of real property; contracts;finance; math; and closing statements.

Of those that take the SC Pre License Course:
60% will take the state exam (60 of 100)
80% will pass the exam (48 out of 60)
80% of those who pass will go into real estate (38 of 48)
40% will leave real estate within the first year (leaving 15)
An additional 30% will leave within the next 2 years, or 70% attrition rate in 3 years--

That leaves 27 agents from the original 100! Of those--
10% will have a designation of some sort, and only
3% will become a Broker--1 person of the original 100!

Point: This transaction is the most inportant and largest financial transaction of your life. Don't just settle for "any agent", use a real professional!
